Steven Getz
Senior Consultant

Steven Getz joined MSL in 2021 and serves as a Senior Consultant. He brings over 20 years of experience in incident and emergency management, fire and life safety code compliance, construction safety management, environment of care continuous improvement, and assessing behavioral health environments. Prior to joining MSL, Steven spent 15 years serving others as a first responder.

During his emergency services tenure, he held multiple leadership positions including Deputy Fire Chief, EMS Supervisor, and a Certified Fire Code Inspector. Steven brings a broad knowledge of experiences within Emergency Management as an Incident Commander on emergency incidents ranging from local emergency response and mitigation to large scale multijurisdictional disasters including wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and winter storms.

For the past five years, Steven has continued his passion in helping others and has transitioned into healthcare regulatory compliance. He drives numerous process improvement initiatives daily within Environment of Care, Life Safety, utilities management, construction, infection prevention, behavioral health environments, and emergency preparedness. Currently, Steven serves as an Environmental Health and Safety Officer for the largest health system in the capital city of North Carolina where he focuses on both Environment of Care and Emergency Management programs.

Steven has experience with leading regulatory accreditation surveys and inspections including The Joint Commission, CMS Validation Survey, local health departments and fire marshal inspections, as well as OSHA compliance visits. Steven received his Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health-Fire Science from Columbia Southern University, Orange Beach, Alabama. He is a current member of ASHE.
